About
Lotts' Legacy Boarding School
Who
are we and what do we believe?
We
are a Central Utah family-owned and operated youth program.
We are educators, motivators and goal setters.
We have dedicated our lives to helping
youth succeed and make it in the real world.
We are community and service oriented.
We believe that you can't climb the ladder
of success with your hands in your pockets!!
We believe in making a difference.
We believe that good things take time.
We have a strong belief in God.
I
Asked God
I asked God for Strength . . .
And He gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked God for Wisdom . . .
And He gave me problems to solve.
I asked God for Prosperity . . .
And He gave me brain and brawn to work.
I asked God for Courage . . .
And He gave me danger to overcome.
I asked God for Love . . .
And He gave me troubled people to help.
I asked God for Favors . . .
And He gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted . . .
And I received everything I needed.
We
believe that we have been given the opportunity and
responsibility to help struggling teens and their
families turn their lives around and become happier and
healthier individuals with brighter and more hopeful futures!
We are qualified to do what we’re
doing—AND we love our work!
What
are we and what do we do?
Lotts'
Legacy was established on the foundation of old-fashioned,
life-tested values of integrity, respect,
responsibility, and quality work.
Lotts'
Legacy is a private youth boarding school accredited by
the Utah Board of Education through Northwest Association
of Accredited Schools.
Our
curriculum follows the Utah State Core
Our
curriculum is individualized for each teen based upon
their Individual Education Plan and is self-paced for
optimal student accomplishment and timely success. We
want our youth to become life-long learners. And we believe
learning at this time in their lives must be relevant.
We
are licensed with the Utah Department of Human Services
as a Residential Treatment Program.
We
offer individual and group talk therapy.
We also offer individual and group Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
(EAP)
We
incorporate the EAGALA philosophy which includes:
The
teen's needs are always considered first and foremost.
A solution-oriented approach - we offer assistance through
the art of asking questions and providing opportunities
for the teen to problem-solve and learn how to discover
their own solutions. We use a technique of change. People
do not change unless they are uncomfortable. People
do not grow unless challenged. And the most effective
change occurs when people discover their own solutions
through experiential learning.
We
serve male and female struggling teens ages 12 - 17.
We recommend and believe the optimal program time to be
six months to a year.
Short
term programs= short term results.
Long term programs= positive, productive life-long results.
We
are "family" oriented.
We
believe that there's no place like home where a "family"
loves, accepts, helps, and supports one another. We operate
around that concept-First and Foremost! At Lotts' Legacy
we're small enough (12 teens) to really be a family. Each
teen has a special place in our family. In that safe,
secure place, we recognize, nurture, and reinforce each
teen's goals, efforts, progress, accomplishments, and
self-worth. We recognize the role of the teen's relationship
with his/her real family and work to
reinforce the positiveness of it.
Our
program utilizes multiple resources to achieve our commitment
to excellence in our specialties.
We
love animals and recognize the value of caring for them
and learning from them.
We have 9 horses for therapy and recreational use, 9 dogs,
and 9 cats.
We
are community and service oriented.
We
teach the teens that it is important to become a part
of and be a positive, productive, contributing member
of a community.
We
live in a rural community that welcomes our students with
open arms. They make our teens feel right at home.
Our
program mission statement includes a quote by Aristotle,
"What we have to learn to do,
we learn by doing."
We believe that the doing part deserves skilled and caring
direction and support from qualified and compassionate people.
If your teen is struggling or has struggled in learning
and/or living, he/she needs the skilled and caring direction
and support even more!
We
believe LOTTS' LEGACY provides that!
